The Biennial Association Meeting is the business component of the larger AAUP Conference and Biennial Meeting. It has certain responsibilities as laid out in Article VI of the AAUP Constitution and will occur on Friday, June 14, from 2pm to 5pm and on Saturday, June 15, from 9am to 5pm. As we enter our next 10 years, we look forward to welcoming attendees back to our Hyde Park campus on June 12-13, 2024. Last year’s summit focused deeply on the implementation of change: attendees learned from experts how to successfully put the Menus of Change principles into action to maximize positive impact on public health, climate, and biodiversity.

Challenging the usual thinking on what higher education, governments, businesses and society must do to help society meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the congress is a call to action for global universities and businesses to pivot their educational, research, innovation and outreach programmes towards tangible outcomes.

Our 2024 Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Meeting (CLDE24) will facilitate exchanges of knowledge and develop a sense of community around our shared civic learning and democratic engagement work. As a community we have adopted the CLDE Theory of Change and strive to create effective strategies and models that strengthen civic learning and democratic engagement.

Since 2012, the Appalachian Energy Summit (AES) — a three-day, annual event envisioned and hosted by App State — has gathered faculty, staff and students from colleges and universities, energy managers and visionaries, and government and industry leaders to share ideas and put into action ecological, financial and social processes designed to improve energy efficiency across the UNC System, the state and beyond.
