Supporting Environmental Justice in Massachusetts Through Scientist-Community Partnerships
December 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST
FreeThe Union of Concerned Scientists and Alternatives for Community and Environment invite you to a webinar on how scientists and experts can form trust-based partnerships with communities on environmental justice efforts and to learn more about the Environmental Justice Assistance Network (EJAN).
How can academics and experts engage in equitable partnerships with communities, while avoiding pitfalls such as “parachuting in” or being extractive? This workshop will provide an overview of EJAN and our vision for future trainings and workshops to support equitable scientist and community partnerships.
Speakers:
- Kevin X. Shen, Union of Concerned Scientists
- Denise January, Alternatives for Community and Environment
- Madeleine Scammell, DSc, Boston University School of Public Health
- Gaurab Basu, MD, MPH, Cambridge Health Alliance and Harvard Medical School
Our panel of speakers will share their experiences, best practices, and advice. You’ll hear stories from UCS Science Network members about their journeys toward forming trust-based partnerships with environmental justice communities in Massachusetts.
