Successful Integration of Photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage Systems on University Campus
April 17, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT
Webinar will provide an overview of the University of Toledo’s Scott Park Campus, which has demonstrated transactive energy control between the HVAC systems of the buildings on the campus, a 1 MW photovoltaic (PV) array, and a lithium ion battery energy storage system (BESS). The project utilizes Eclipse VOLTTRON, which was developed by the US Department of Energy as an open source platform which can mediate communications between building and energy systems. Eclipse VOLTTRON was used by UT to facilitate integration of the PV, the BESS and the BAS controllers in several campus buildings. The webinar will outline learnings associated with the deployment and identify opportunities for collaboration between Engineering, IT and Facilities Departments with respect to PV + storage + Buildings projects.
