This two-day workshop will focus on the “information layer” that the University of California Irvine has developed to ensure consistent high performance of precision demand-control HVAC in its Smart Labs, ventilation improvements that have been implemented in addition to precision demand-control, as well as lessons UCI has learned from a decade of experience with their Smart Labs program.

The program will also include a session dedicated to Green Labs programs and outreach to scientists, which will be led by My Green Lab and will include insights from scientists in UCI’s certified Green Labs. Day two is an optional supplemental half-day session on Design-Build project delivery and its application to new construction of laboratories, Smart Lab retrofit projects, and integrated facility renewal/Smart Lab projects will be explored in detail, including the methods UC Irvine has developed to incentivize the design-build process to obtain exemplary energy performance from such projects.
