Saving Paper in the New Normal: Organizational Behavior Change Opportunities and Tools
August 19, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
FreeBy reducing their paper use, organizations not only create significant environmental benefits, but save their organizations money. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, paper use has plummeted as organizations have been forced to adapt to online operations. But how can organizations continue to maintain the benefits of saving paper once operations resume in the “new normal”? This webcast, hosted by Root Solutions and the Environmental Paper Network, will discuss how businesses, schools, and other organizations can use this period of disruption and adaptation as a window of opportunity to build paper conservation into their habits, culture, and systems. The webcast will cover:
- Key strategies for saving paper
- How to identify and overcome barriers to saving paper
- How to use tools from behavioral science, including defaults, commitments, norms, and prompts
- How to engage individuals and teams in the effort.
We will highlight lessons from Turning the Page: A Behavior Change Toolkit for Reducing Paper Use, developed by Root Solutions and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education through their work applying behavioral science to paper-saving with over 20 higher ed campuses.
