This session will introduce the Sports for Nature initiative by UNEP and the associated framework being led by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

It will also provide an opportunity for researchers from different parts of the world to identify common interests at the intersection of sports and nature and to start building out collaborative teams that will address urgent research questions linked to this agenda over the course of the next few years, in this Decade of Ecosystem Restoration and in support of the 30×30 goals.

Speakers include Dr Maddy Orr (Lecturer at Loughborough University London and Co-Director of SEG), Sam Barratt (Chief, Youth, Education and Advocacy in UNEP’s Ecosystems Division) and Leigh Ann Hurt (Coordinator, Sports for Nature at IUCN)
