Clean Campus, Clean Planet is an educational webinar that discusses emerging research on the health, environmental, and financial risks of traditional cleaning chemicals post-pandemic. The webinar will introduce innovative solutions that reduce toxic chemical usage on campuses without compromising cleanliness and hygiene. Four keynote speakers will offer a specialized knowledge-share in sustainable education, custodial management, and green cleaning.

Presenters

Kristin Parineh, Director of the Office of Sustainability, Stanford University

As the Director of the Office of Sustainability at Stanford University, Kristin Parineh has been advancing and achieving the school’s sustainability goals since 2012. Among her many accomplishments in the education sector, Kristin also served as the City of Palo Alto’s first Sustainability Planner wherein she developed green building and sustainability policies for the city. Kristin is committed to supporting the next generation of sustainability change management leaders with the goal to transform the future of waste and climate.

Steve Ashkin, President, The Ashkin Group

Acknowledged as one of ISSA’s top contributors to the professional cleaning industry in its 100-year history, Steve Ashkin is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, and a leader of the Green Cleaning Movement, recognized as the “Father of Green Cleaning”. Currently he serves as President of The Ashkin Group, Executive Director of the Green Cleaning Network, co-founder of Green Cleaning University and CEO of Sustainability Dashboard Tools, LLC – all of which play important roles in his efforts to move the global cleaning industry from green to sustainable. Steve has been working in the cleaning industry since 1981, where he has held key technical and management positions for leading commercial and consumer products companies.

Luke Cornelius, President of Sustainable Business Organization, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Luke is a junior at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, majoring in Business Management with a minor in Environmental Studies. He is the founder and president of the Sustainable Business Organization on campus, focused on changing how UT does business in a more environmentally friendly way. Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, he most recently finds himself playing ultimate frisbee very often during his free time.

Tony Almeida, Manager of Custodial Services, Elk Grove Unified School District

Tony has over 35 years of experience in the custodial trades, spending the last 29 years as part of Elk Grove Unified School District, where he currently serves as Manager for the Custodial Services Department. Tony oversees 75 buildings with over 5 million square feet and 300+ staff members. Tony and the EGUSD Maintenance & Operations Department were the first district in California to use on-site generation of electrochemically activated solutions. Tony is an active steering committee member for Healthy Green Schools and Colleges, and his district are members of the International Sanitary Suppliers Association (ISSA). He has served as the professional council chair for California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) section board for Maintenance & Operations. He also serves as an advisor for the Indoor Health Council.
