This interactive two-day workshop is open to undergraduate faculty from any and all academic disciplines interested in incorporating sustainability into existing courses or developing new courses with sustainability content. The workshop will be held at the Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities on Furman University’s campus in Greenville, SC. The Shi Institute is an award winning, nationally acclaimed academic center focused on promoting interdisciplinary sustainability research and teaching on campuses and in campus-community partnerships. Furman University has a long standing commitment to sustainability, in our curriculum, on our campus, and with our community, and the Institute has a ten year track record of bringing together faculty to work on sustainability curriculum. Institute faculty and staff running the workshop will help facilitate and share resources and innovative approaches to teaching sustainability, including using your campus and community as living learning labs, experiential and active learning pedagogies, and transdisciplinary collaboration among faculty.
Furman University is one of the Integrating Sustainability Across the Curriculumregional AASHE Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum. Centers host workshops and other professional development opportunities throughout the year.
