Canceled – Driftless Region Sustainability Across the Curriculum Project
June 1, 2020 - June 2, 2020
This event has been canceled for June and may be rescheduled for later in the summer. Please contact organizers directly.
Are you preparing your students to be engaged and thoughtful citizens in a changing world? A population who understands sustainability, a concept that transcends academic and professional silos, is crucial in order to deliberately—and equitably—respond to the social, economic, and environmental realities we face. During this day and a half-long workshop, participants can expect to: develop an authentic connection between sustainability and their own content area using the United Nations Global Goals as a guiding framework; explore pedagogy for place-based education and best practices for use in course development; examine resources for building engaging sustainability-related curricula; create at least one sustainability focused learning activity and/or assignment to implement in an existing course. As an optional extension, participants may stay the afternoon of day two to work on their sustainability curriculum while having access to support from curriculum designers and other specialists.
Driftless Region Sustainability in Education Project is one of the regional AASHE Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum. Centers host workshops and other professional development opportunities throughout the year. If you aren’t able to attend this event, please consider attending one of the other upcoming events organized by a Center.
