Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop: Partnerships for High Impact Learning

This workshop will introduce best practices for integrating sustainability across the curriculum, from designing a sustainability-focused assignment or course to strategizing curriculum-wide sustainability learning goals. This year’s event will give specific focus to developing and maintaining community partnerships that connect classroom learning to real-world sustainability initiatives, a high impact pedagogical practice. Participants can choose from three tracks focused on different types of partnerships: 1) schools and non-profit organizations, 2) local governments, and 3) for-profit businesses. These half-day tracks will be led by experienced practitioners from a range of disciplines in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and professional fields, and each will include presentations from non-profit, government, and business partners. Participants will leave with resources on sustainability course design, tips for establishing and maintaining partnerships, exercises for student reflection, and tools for assessment. The workshop will include presentations from community organizations who have been partners in research projects, and from experienced faculty researchers in.
