The AASHE Sustainability Awards provide global recognition to the individuals and institutions leading the higher education sustainability movement. With the help of volunteer judges from the community, the awards program raises the visibility of high-impact sustainability projects and individual leadership, helping to disseminate innovations and inspire continued progress toward environmental, social and economic health.
We are now accepting applications and nominations through the fourth Friday in January (Jan. 24, 2025).
Award Details
This award honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the advancement of sustainability in higher education over their lifetimes.
This award recognizes mid-career professionals who are significantly contributing to the advancement of sustainability in higher education.
This award honors higher education institutions for successful implementation of projects that advance sustainability.
This award honors students from higher education who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting sustainability on campus.
Started in 2006, the AASHE awards program has recognized nearly 100 institutions and individuals. In 2023, 10 winners were recognized.
Judges get an inside look at the work of higher education sustainability leaders and are recognized for their contributions on our website.
