Sustainability (as) Pedagogy

The Faculty Curriculum & Development Centre (FCDC) and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Sustainability Initiatives (ODESI) at OCAD University (OCAD U) are pleased to invite you to Sustainability (as) Pedagogy, a research talk with OCAD U’s Sustainable Futures Faculty Fellowship (SF3) program on Monday, May 13, 2024, 12:00 – 1:30 pm EDT, online via Zoom. The talk will feature OCAD U faculty members and 2023-24 SF3 Fellows: Julia Rose Sutherland (Faculty of Design), Lori Riva (Faculty of Arts & Science), and Natalie Waldburger (Faculty of Art), who will share findings from their pedagogical research projects that took place this academic year.
What are the tenets of sustainability as pedagogy? How can educators embed the wholistic, systems-thinking approaches of sustainability into teaching? In this research talk with the Sustainable Futures Faculty Fellowship (SF3) program, learn about how OCAD University faculty members integrate mapping, land-based learning, decolonial pedagogical models, and sustainable material practices into teaching and learning. The 2023-24 SF3 Fellows will present findings from their pedagogical research which took place in classes during Fall 2023.
