FreeThis webinar takes participants through the process of designing a successful, effective climate crisis awareness and action week at their own institutions, schools, or groups, using the tUrn partners + headliners + resources model. Support your institution in better addressing the urgency of the climate crisis and all that the term encompasses. tUrn begins with an invitation, and ends with university-wide cooperation, and more importantly, social, racial and environmental progress. tUrn, named after the change of direction we so desperately need if we are going to solve the climate crisis justly, is a new model for climate crisis awareness and action in higher education and beyond. Come learn how an invitational, intercultural, interdisciplinary and intergenerational project is scaling up relationships, climate justice and eco-conversions locally and internationally, driven by the notion that no one should graduate from college in this decade, without being ready for the climate crisis or without being fully aware of what they can do to create a much-needed u-tUrn.

Kristin Kusanovich, Director, & Senior Lecturer, tUrn Climate Crisis Awareness & Action Project at Santa Clara University Kusanovich received her BA from Santa Clara University where she studied Theatre, Dance and Mathematics and her MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She was Artistic Director of Kusanovich Dance Theatre of Minneapolis and is a Senior Lecturer in Theatre & Dance and Child Studies at Santa Clara University. Former President of California Dance Education Association, she has directed and choreographed over one hundred artistic works for the concert stage in dance, theatre, musical theatre, opera and film. She is a published author and researcher in transdisciplinary arts-based research methods and has taught, presented and led workshops for higher education leaders and administrators in the U.S. and Canada. Her specialties are producing large-scale performance events, embodied methods for teaching educational leadership, arts pedagogy, civic engagement, children/youth, justice and the climate crisis. During tUrn week she directs 5 days of 12 hour programming, presents on the arts that cross into climate activism and offers eco-anxiety workshops with embodied and experiential components between the science lecturers. She brings experts from her university, her community, state, country and the world together. |
