- Board of DirectorsThe purpose of the Board of Directors is to advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the general promotion of AASHE. The Board of Directors consists of faculty, students, staff and administrators representing organizational members.
Term: Three years
Open Positions: Three (Two will be member elected and one will be appointed)
Eligibility: Applicants must be employees or students of a current AASHE member organization in good standing. Acceptance of an application does not guarantee the eligibility of a candidate. If at a later point in time, a candidate is found to be ineligible, that candidate will be disqualified.
- Advisory CouncilAASHE’s Advisory Council promotes and supports the organization’s growth and development, and advises staff on complex or specialized matters as well as general programmatic goals. The Advisory Council consists of leaders from higher education, business, nonprofit and government sectors.
Term: Two years
Open Positions: Unlimited

Acceptance of an application does not guarantee the eligibility of a candidate. If at a later point in time, a candidate is found to be ineligible, that candidate will be disqualified.
- STARS Steering CommitteeThe STARS Steering Committee is responsible for approving changes to STARS credits, new versions of the system and serves in an advisory role on all matters related to STARS. Steering Committee members should possess a deep understanding of AASHE’s mission and the goals of STARS, familiarity with at least one of the content areas covered in STARS, familiarity with rating systems and sustainability indicators, effective communication skills and the ability to be collaborative and work well on a team.
