Workshop: Facilitation for Organizational Change (with Zoom!)
May 6, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
This workshop has passed. You can purchase a copy of the recording and resource materials.
Whether in person or remote, effective meeting facilitation is one of the most overlooked (yet important) tools in your toolkit
in managing team efforts toward achieving climate neutrality, climate justice, and any other complex processes. You don’t have to wait until the pandemic ends to make continued progress on strategic planning, capital planning, or other important meetings!
This three-hour workshop will be a participatory session where you will take part in a meeting demonstrating how to:
- Use shared virtual meeting documents
- Generate ideas as a group and in break out groups
- Converge long lists
- Create a decision-making process
- Confirm next steps
Broken into two parts, the first part will cover topics such as behavior theory as it pertains to meetings, the role of a facilitator, types of meetings, basic facilitation tools and techniques, difficult conversations and personalities, adaptive facilitation, nonverbal communication, methods of building group consensus, and a holistic process approach to facilitation.
The second part will be a fun and engaging mock demonstration using several Zoom meeting tools to aid in facilitating a group decision-making process on a very important question: what song defines the times?
Tentative Agenda
- Provide a brief overview of behavior theory for meeting facilitation (15 min)
- Mock meeting (45 min)
- Provide a brief overview of meeting planning (15 min)
- Internal agenda work session (45 min)
- Share agendas and report out from work sessions (30 min)
